Description

The European and Eurasian Studies Program at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies is honored to host the 2019 Leonard Schapiro Memorial Prize Lecture. This year's honoree is Cas Mudde of the University of Georgia in the United States and the University of Oslo in Norway. Mudde will present a lecture entitled "Populism in Europe: An Illiberal Democratic Response to Undemocratic Liberalism."

The event is hosted by Erik Jones, director of the European and Eurasian Studies Program; the prize lecture is sponsored by Government and Opposition, one of the world's leading global comparative politics journals.

The lecture will be 5:30-7 p.m. followed by a reception until 7:30 p.m.
