Description
With Slave Streets/Free Streets, Dr. Anne Rubin, a professor of History at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, will bring early republic Baltimore (circa 1815-1820) to life. Using interactive digital maps from the Visualizing Early Baltimore project, Rubin will highlight the landscape in which approximately 4,300 enslaved and 10,300 free African Americans lived and worked.
The event begins with a 5:30 p.m. reception at Homewood Museum followed by the talk at 6:30 p.m. at Gilman Hall, room 50.

This event is free for Johns Hopkins faculty, staff, students, and Museums members.
General admission is $10.

Seating is limited; please register in advance online or by calling the museum at 410-516-5589. There is a wait list for sold-out events. Walk-in registration is based on seating availability.
