Description

Global freedom has been on the decline for more than a decade. The overall losses are still shallow compared with the gains of the late 20th century, but the pattern is consistent and ominous. Democracy is in retreat.

Three experts in political science and foreign affairs gather to discuss the current state of democracy around the world and the various threats to its security. The talk features:

  • Michael Abramowitz, president of global democracy advocacy organization, Freedom House
  • Karen DeYoung, associate editor and senior national security correspondent at The Washington Post
  • Yascha Mounk, political scientist and senior fellow at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins

Elise Labott, former CNN global affairs correspondent, will moderate.

This event is on the record and open to the media and the public.
