Description

Come take a break from studying to watch the documentary The Island President exploring the undertakings and perspective of President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives, one of the most low-lying countries under the threat of climate change. Facing the very real possibility of complete submersion, the film follows Nasheed's first year in office as he becomes an international leader calling for action, ending with a look into the Copenhagen Climate Summit of 2009.

The Island President (2011) was directed by Jon Shenk and won the People's Choice Award for Best Documentary at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Light snacks will be provided. Sponsored by Johns Hopkins University's Eco-Reps.
