Description

Please join the Latin America in a Globalizing World Initiative for an urgent and open discussion on the recent election in Brazil that swept far-right candidate Jair Bolsonaro to the presidency. The discussion will address what this election signals for human rights, environmental protections, economic development, and democracy in Brazil as well as wider repercussions across the region and the globe. Panelists include:

  • Alessandro Angelini, assistant professor of Anthropology
  • Roberto Goulart Menezes, visiting professor from the University of BrasĂ­lia
  • Luis Rodriguez Aquino, a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science
  • Elayne Cardoso de Morais, a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology
  • TĂșlio Zille, a Ph.D. candidate in Political Science
