Description
The Alexander Grass Humanities Institute is hosting screenings for two Frankenstein films, a panel discussion and Q&A, and a writing contest for Johns Hopkins undergraduate students. These events mark the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
2 p.m.: Film screening of Bride of Frankenstein at the Parkway Theatre
3:30-5:30 p.m.: Panel discussion on "What Frankenstein's Monster Can Tell Us about Being Human" at the Parkway Theatre with the following presenters:
- Moderator: William Egginton, director of the Alexander Grass Humanities Institute
- Yulia Frumer, assistant professor of the History of Science and Technology
- Jeffrey Kahn, director of the Berman Institute of Bioethics
- Jared Hickman, associate professor of English
- Linda DeLibero, professor of Film and Media Studies
6:30 p.m.: Film screening of Young Frankenstein at the Parkway Theatre
The deadline for the undergraduate Frankenstein student writing contest, sponsored by the Writing Seminars, is Oct. 26. There is an award of $250.

Tickets
The 6:30 p.m. screening of Young Frankenstein is free for the Hopkins community and $10 for the general public. All other events are free for all audiences.
