Description

Evergreen Museum & Library, the Evergreen House Foundation, and the Johns Hopkins University Press present a talk on Gilded Age banker, businessman, and Garrett family patriarch, John Work Garrett (1820-1884), by Kathleen Waters Sander, author of the recently-published John W. Garrett and the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. Book signing and reception to follow.

Kathleen Waters Sander teaches at the University of Maryland University College. She is the author of The Business of Charity: The Women's Exchange Movement, 1832-1900 and Mary Elizabeth Garrett: Society and Philanthropy in the Gilded Age.
