Description

The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health will host a forum on the 30th anniversary of "Seize Control of the FDA," an action by thousands of protesters on Oct. 11, 1988. Participants will discuss this historic protest and its legacy for drug approval and beyond. These participants include:

  • Peter Staley, Mark Harrington, Ann Northrop, and Gregg Gonsalves, AIDS activists who led the protest
  • David A. Kessler, the former commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration
  • Susan Ellenberg, a former scientist for the National Institutes of Health and U.S. Food and Drug Administration

The event will be streamed via webcast, and a reception will follow in the gallery of the Wolfe St. building from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
