Description

The Hopkins Office for Undergraduate Research is proud to host a brown-bag Student Seminar Series session on the brain. The session features four undergraduate speakers:

  • Erin Brush, molecular and cellular biology, '19: "Neural Representation of Braille Reading in Congenitally Blind Individuals," researching in the Neuroplasticity and Development Lab under Marina Bedny, assistant professor of psychological and brain sciences
  • Julia See, behavioral biology, '19, summer Provost's Undergraduate Research Award recipient: "Cancer and the Brain Interaction," researching in the Kano Laboratory under Shinichi Kano, assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences
  • Kevin Torgas, applied math and statistics, and neuroscience, '20, Connectomics Institute for Reconstructing Cortex: Understanding Intelligence Together participant: "Mapping the Brain at Nanoscale Resolution," researching in the Applied Physics Laboratory Intelligent Systems Center under William Gray-Roncal, senior research engineer of research and exploratory development
  • Alanna Farrell, biomedical engineering, '20, summer Provost's Undergraduate Research Award recipient: "Tissue Engineering: Modeling the Blood-Brain Barrier," researching in the Institute for NanoBioTechnology's Searson Group under Peter Searson, professor of materials science and engineering

The Student Seminar Series provides Johns Hopkins undergraduates the opportunity to present their research, projects, or experiences from any discipline on a selected topic in a seminar format concluding with a panel Q&A session.
