Description

The Johns Hopkins 21st Century Cities Initiative welcomes Carla Rodriguez of the University of Buenos Aires for a presentation and discussion of her work with Valeria Procupez from the JHU Anthropology department on the impact of PAV (Programa de AutogestiĆ³n para la Vivienda - Program for Self-Managed Housing), a government program promoted and sponsored by a group of local grassroots and community based organizations in Buenos Aires. The program allocates public funds for the production of affordable housing in central urban areas based on an innovative methodology of self-management that supports low-income residents to organize housing cooperatives and remain residing in the city. The presenters will discuss the affordability, housing quality and livability, and stakeholder participation in policy design and implementation.
