/ Published June 8, 2025What began as a friendly field competition among colleagues for the purpose of capturing video footage for last year's Staff Awards is now an annual event. Back by popular demand, the Whiting School of Engineering second annual Staff Field Day was held the morning of June 4 on Homewood Field.
More than 150 staff members enjoyed a DJ, line dances, pizza, ice cream, and team-building activities. Bragging rights and ribbons were awarded to the winners of the following games:
- Three-legged race (team event)
- Cup stacking (team event)
- Egg-and-spoon race (team event)
- Hula hoop contest (individual event)
- Tug-of-war (team event)
Those who did not compete participated as spectators and cheered on their co-workers.
"Whiting staff clearly know how to balance their priorities, build things and take them apart, and pull together to bring people to their side of seeing things," said Dean Ed Schlesinger in the event's closing remarks.
