Pink with purpose: JHU unites for breast cancer awareness

A powerful display of support and awareness during Wear Pink Week

From Oct. 13 to 17, Johns Hopkins employees came together for Wear Pink Week, a vibrant initiative aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer. As part of the university's Well-Being Program, the event encouraged faculty and staff to wear pink throughout the week to show solidarity with those affected by breast cancer and to promote education around prevention and early detection.

Participants engaged in a photo challenge, submitting individual and group photos in pink attire. These entries were entered into a raffle, adding a fun and engaging element to the week while fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

Hosted by Naviance nurse navigator Rose Wolfe, a Breast Cancer Awareness webinar provided valuable insights into risk factors, screening recommendations, and proactive health strategies. The session empowered attendees by giving them knowledge and resources to support their own well-being and that of others.

Wear Pink Week served as a meaningful reminder of the importance of awareness, education, and collective action in the fight against breast cancer. Through participation and learning, the Johns Hopkins community demonstrated its commitment to health, compassion, and support.

Winners of the photo challenge were LisaAnn Lider-Goetz, Housing Operations and Maintenance; Chantell Cromwell, Student Health and Wellness Center; and Miguel Baez, Howard County General Hospital Facilities Engineering.
