The Whiting School of Engineering hosted a STEM Kit Stuffing Event on Thursday, Jan. 30, to support its annual fundraising campaign for United Way of Central Maryland.

Faculty members, staff, and students gathered in the San Martin Center to assemble 100 kits—some for making crystalized snowflakes using borax, others for building igloo structures from toothpicks and marshmallows—that the United Way will distribute to students at the Bay Brook or James McHenry schools.

The event was sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union and included a raffle drawing for AirPods Pro, a Boat Baltimore voucher, a Union Craft Brewing private tour, Whiting School gear, and other prizes.

This year, the Whiting School exceeded its fundraising goal by 63%, raising $86,567.

Jan. 31 is the final day of the university's annual campaign.
