Krieger School faculty and staff in the news

Honors for Jane Bennett, Xiongyi Huang, Robert Moffitt, Erin Maher-Moran, and Christy Thornton

Jane Bennett, the Andrew W. Mellon Professor of the Humanities in the Department of Comparative Thought and Literature, has received an Alexander Grass Humanities Institute faculty fellowship for the 2024–25 academic year. Her project is titled "Data and the Non-metrical in the Environmental Humanities."

Xiongyi Huang, an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry, has received the Dreyfus Award, given by the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation, for advancing the science of chemistry, chemical engineering, and related sciences as a means of improving human relations and circumstances throughout the world.

Robert Moffitt, a Krieger-Eisenhower Professor of Economics who holds a joint appointment at the Bloomberg School of Public Health, was elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world's largest general scientific society.

Erin Maher-Moran, manager of the Classroom and A/V Technology Services team in Krieger IT, known as KITCATS, was named A/V Professional of the Year by Higher Ed AV. In addition, Maher-Moran is the incoming chair of the Higher Education Technology Managers Alliance, an advocacy organization known as HETMA.

"Developmentalism as Internationalism" by Christy Thornton won the American Sociological Association's 2024 Sociology of Development's Faculty Article Award. Thornton is an associate professor in the Department of Sociology and co-chair of the Krieger School's Program in Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies.
