Applications to Johns Hopkins Engineering Innovation's Pre-College Programs are open for summer 2024. Dependents of eligible full-time JHU staff are eligible to apply the 50% tuition remission benefit to any course.

This summer, Engineering Innovation offers multiweek online, commuter, and residential courses to motivated high school students interested in math, science, and technology. Each course introduces students to challenging and exciting college-level engineering courses through collaborative hands-on projects.

  • Explore Engineering Innovation. Designed to build confidence, this program features an exploration across multiple engineering fields, including civil, chemical, mechanical, and electrical engineering; computer science; and materials science. Students will participate in college-level lectures, problem solve technological challenges, and test theories through hands-on projects, all created to teach them to think like an engineer.

  • Biomedical Engineering Innovation. Explore challenges at the intersection of health and engineering. Students will dive into modeling biological systems and design experiments to test them in this asynchronous course designed by the faculty of the nation's No. 1 biomedical engineering program. Lab kits will be mailed to students for this course.

  • Sustainable Energy Engineering: In Person. Build an understanding of sources of energy, energy storage, and transfer, and the impact of social and political factors on sustainable energy today and beyond.

EI's summer pre-college programs are the ultimate opportunity to explore a variety of engineering disciplines and career paths while earning college credit from a top-tier research university. Online programs start on Monday, June 24, and residential/commuter programs start on Monday, July 1. The final deadline to apply is Friday, May 17. Visit EI's website to learn more and to apply.
