Carey's Tinglong Dai named one of world's 40 under 40 best business school professors

Award from Poets & Quants recognizes a balance of teaching and research

Tinglong Dai, a professor of operations management and business analytics, was named one of the world's 40 under 40 best business school professors by Poets & Quants. The award aims to recognize a balance of teaching and research. Dai, who received about four dozen nominations for the honor, has more than 700 Google Scholar citations. He is on the Core Faculty and Leadership Team of the Hopkins Business of Health Initiative and holds joint faculty appointments in the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and the Johns Hopkins Institute for Data Intensive Engineering and Science, known as IDIES.

His research focuses on the health care ecosystem, and he also has been working on marketing-operations interfaces and human-AI interaction. His recent writings and media coverage address the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, especially vaccine rollouts. He has appeared frequently on national and international TV, among other media outlets, and his work has been published in leading journals. He co-edited the Handbook of Healthcare Analytics: Theoretical Minimum for Conducting 21st Century Research on Healthcare Operations, published by John Wiley & Sons in 2018.
