Runners and walkers wanted. Johns Hopkins University and Medicine are organizing Team Hopkins to support the 11th annual Marian House Race to Embrace Independence 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The organization's only fundraiser, the event is described as a fun, healthy, family-friendly, and festive neighborhood celebration to support and highlight the successes of Marian House women moving from dependence to independence. Participation helps raise awareness and funds for housing, food, clothing, education, life skills, employability training, counseling, and other necessary support services for homeless women and children.

In addition to the Marian House T-shirt that participants will receive as part of their registration, all Team Hopkins members will also get an identifying T-shirt to wear on race day.

The race will be held at 9 a.m. at Lake Montebello. Entry fees for adults are $35 ($40 after Sept. 19) per 5K runner/5K walker/Family Fun Run, and $20 for a child under 11 in the Family Fun Run.

To participate, register online and go to Group/Teams to join Team Hopkins.
