Faculty appointments and promotions: March 2019

Newly recognized are in Arts and Sciences, Business, Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health

The following faculty appointments and promotions were recently approved by the university's board of trustees.

Bloomberg School of Public Health

Caleb Alexander has been promoted to the rank of professor, with tenure, in the Department of Epidemiology, effective retroactive to Nov. 1, 2018.

Martin W. Bloem has been appointed to the rank of professor in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering, effective retroactive to Nov. 15, 2017.

Kay Dickersin has been appointed professor emerita in the Department of Epidemiology.

Ellen K. Silbergeld has been appointed professor emerita in the Department of Environmental Health and Engineering, effective May 30.

Cross-disciplinary

Otis W. Brawley has been appointed professor of oncology in the School of Medicine and endorsed as a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor in conjunction with the Department of Epidemiology in the Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Daeyeol Lee has been appointed professor, with tenure, in the Krieger School's Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, with a joint appointment in the Zanvyl Krieger Mind/Brain Institute and as a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor, in conjunction with an appointment in the School of Medicine's Department of Neuroscience, effective July 1.

Daniel E. Polsky has been appointed to the rank of professor, with tenure, in the School of Public Health's Department of Health Policy and Management and as a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor in conjunction with the Carey Business School.

Nilabh Shastri has been appointed professor, with tenure, in the Krieger School's Department of Biology, and as a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor in conjunction with an appointment in the School of Medicine's Department of Pathology.

Krieger School of Arts and Sciences

Rebecca M. Brown has been promoted to professor, with tenure, in the Department of History of Art.

Rejji Kuruvilla has been promoted to professor, with tenure, in the Department of Biology, effective July 1.

Douglas Mao has been named to the Russ Family Professorship in the Humanities.

Lisa Michele Siraganian has been appointed associate professor, with tenure, in the Department of Comparative Thought and Literature, and to hold the James R. Herbert Boone Professorship in the Humanities, effective July 1.

School of Medicine

James H. Black III has been promoted to the rank of professor of surgery, full time.

Andrew M. Cameron has been promoted to the rank of professor of surgery.

Joseph Cofrancesco Jr. has been promoted to the rank of professor of medicine.

Paul A. Fuchs has been appointed the first holder of the David M. Rubenstein Endowed Research Professorship in the Department of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery.

Christos Georgiades has been promoted to the rank of professor of radiological sciences.

Maureen R. Horton has been promoted to the rank of professor of medicine, full time.

Sakkubai Naidu has been appointed professor emerita in the departments of Neurology and Pediatrics and in the Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Sharon D. Solomon has been promoted to professor of ophthalmology.

Maxine L. Stitzer has been appointed professor emerita in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

Guang William Wong has been promoted to the rank of professor of physiology.

Peter P. Zandi has been appointed to the Arlene and Robert Kogod Professorship in Mood Disorders.

School of Nursing

Martha N. Hill has been appointed professor emerita.
