Johns Hopkins University and Medicine are supporting the 10th annual Marian House Race to Embrace Independence 5K Run and Walk on Saturday, Sept. 29, and organizers are hoping that this year's Team Hopkins will have 100 participants.

The race is designed to raise awareness and funds for Marian House, a healing community for women and their children in need of housing and support services. This event is the organization's only major fundraiser.

It will be held at 9 a.m. at Lake Montebello. The fee is $35 ($40 after Sept. 20) for each 5K runner, 5K walker, and adult in the Family Fun Run and $20 for each child under 11 in the Family Fun Run.

Race information and registration are available online. To sign up, go to Groups/Teams at the top of the page and join Team Hopkins.

The Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund provided grants to Marian House from 2013 to 2016 to address resident needs and support for the positions of child therapist and house manager.
