Faculty appointments and promotions: May 2018

Newly recognized are in Arts and Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine

The following promotions and appointments in the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, the Whiting School of Engineering, and the School of Medicine were approved by the Executive Committee of Johns Hopkins University's board of trustees at its meeting on May 7.

Krieger School of Arts and Sciences

Benjamin G. Dodson has been promoted to associate professor, with tenure, in the Department of Mathematics.

Richard Lewis Huganir, professor and director of the Solomon H. Snyder Department of Neuroscience in the School of Medicine, has been appointed professor, with tenure, in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences, and as a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor.

Jared Kaplan has been promoted to associate professor, with tenure, in the Department of Physics and Astronomy.

Alice Mandell has been appointed to the William Foxwell Albright Chair in Biblical and Near Eastern Studies.

Tyrel M. McQueen has been promoted to professor, with tenure, in the Department of Chemistry.

John Morrison has been appointed associate professor, with tenure, in the Department of Philosophy.

Whiting School of Engineering

Efrosini Kokkoli has been appointed professor, with tenure, in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

Rebecca Schulman has been promoted to associate professor, with tenure, in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.

Michael Tsapatsis has been appointed a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor, with permanent tenure, in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and in the Applied Physics Laboratory.

School of Medicine

Mohamed Gehad Atta has been promoted to professor of medicine.

Derek Kofi Boahene has been promoted to professor in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Dermatology.

Andrew J. Ewald has been promoted to the rank of professor of cell biology, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Oncology.

Takanari Inoue has been promoted to the rank of professor of cell biology, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Biological Chemistry.

Sheela N. Magge has been appointed to the Lawson Wilkens Professorship in Pediatric Endocrinology.

Richard J. Redett has been promoted to professor of plastic and reconstructive surgery, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics.
