JHU staff members have a few more days to complete the latest employee engagement survey and help build a work environment where everyone can perform at their best. Staff in all university divisions except APL are being asked to find the Gallup link and complete the survey by March 25. The email subject line is "Now available: Johns Hopkins Employee Engagement Survey."

JHU faculty will not complete the Gallup survey this year

Feedback from staff members who took previous Gallup surveys has led to new efforts across the university to improve goal setting, employee reviews, and learning opportunities organized by Human Resources. Survey results have also driven new efforts in divisions and departments, such as the Carey Business School's recognition, wellness, and volunteering programs and the School of Medicine's Radiology recognition and mentorship initiatives.

"The survey information is crucial for understanding how our organization can provide what people need to be productive, motivated, and committed to our shared goals," says Heidi Conway, Johns Hopkins University's vice president for human resources. "We appreciate the efforts of everyone who has completed the survey so far. For those who haven't yet: Please take this opportunity to make your voice heard before the end of the week."

The 2018 survey includes 12 core questions Gallup has identified to measure the most important elements of employee engagement and several additional questions chosen by the university, including ones about diversity and inclusion within the organization. It takes less than 15 minutes to complete.

Gallup is conducting the survey confidentially, and information will be reported back to managers with no identifying information about the respondents. If fewer than five employees in a given area respond to the survey, their answers will be grouped with a larger unit to which they belong (such as an overall department) in order to protect the employees' confidentiality.

More information about the survey questions and tools for managers are on the employee engagement page of the Senior VP for Finance and Administration website.
