Seventy expectant parents and guests attended the Johns Hopkins Baby Shower, hosted by the Office of Work, Life and Engagement, on Tuesday in the Turner Concourse on the East Baltimore campus.
The attendees learned about a variety of services to support them during the life transition of welcoming a family addition. Experts and vendors addressed breastfeeding, choosing quality child care, neurodevelopment, and other topics. The Johns Hopkins Women's Mood Disorders Center attended as a resource for the first time.
During the benefits breakout session, university staff and faculty learned about the new JHU family leave policy, which provides four weeks of full pay, with an additional six weeks for birth recovery.
Attendees entered raffles for a Pack 'n Play, a Munchkin bottle warmer, and gift baskets donated by Henderson-Hopkins and Bright Horizons child care centers.
Registration for the March 22, 2018, Spring Baby Shower will open in mid-January. All new and expectant parents are invited.
