With beautiful fall days arriving and a busy holiday season ahead, nobody wants to get sidelined by the flu. Johns Hopkins makes it easier for eligible employees to stave off the virus by offering free flu shots at convenient locations across its campuses.
The annual vaccination clinics began on Monday, Oct. 2, on the East Baltimore campus and start on Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Homewood and other locations. Eligible spouses and domestic partners can receive flu shots starting Oct. 16, and the clinics continue through Friday, Nov. 9.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention now recommends that, with few exceptions, everyone 6 months of age or older be vaccinated for flu every year.
Employees should bring their university IDs and must accompany spouses and domestic partners at the time of their vaccinations. Part-time employees for whom the university is the primary employer, and their spouses and domestic partners, are also eligible, but no children are included in this program. Everyone should wear clothing that makes upper arms accessible; the flu shot is given in the muscle of the upper arm near the shoulder.
All Johns Hopkins faculty, staff, and students who have direct patient contact—including through academic, research, and volunteer activities—or who work in certain buildings on the East Baltimore campus are covered by a mandatory vaccination policy.
