The second annual BFSA Meet and Greet welcomed more than 100 faculty, staff, students, and administrators for an event that lived up to its billing: An opportunity to spend a few hours getting to know each other in a warm and inviting setting.
Johns Hopkins' Black Faculty and Staff Association has three caucuses—Homewood, East Baltimore, and APL—and this get-together, co-sponsored by the President's Office and held Monday afternoon in Homewood's Charles Commons, brought together returning members as well as introducing new ones to the organization.
"We're very decentralized, but for this one day, we're all one," said Lynnise Norris, BFSA president.
In addition, "We wanted to do more with students," said Norris about the genesis of the event. "We want to let them know we're there to support them, if they want help or just want to talk. Most of them aren't from Baltimore, and we want to be a resource for them."
Among the leadership on hand were President Ron Daniels, Provost Sunil Kumar, and vice president for HR Heidi Conway.
