Occupational Health Services moving from Homewood to Eastern

On Aug. 2, Johns Hopkins' Occupational Health Services will open a new office location at Johns Hopkins at Eastern.

The office, which is part of the Department of Health, Safety and Environment, previously had an office on the Homewood campus, in the Wyman Park Building. Beginning next week, university employees will go to room C-160 at Eastern for services such as return to duty clearances, immunizations, and management of work-related injuries and illnesses. Faculty and staff on the East Baltimore campus can continue to use the OHS office at 98 N. Broadway, which serves university and health system employees located in that area.

Johns Hopkins at Eastern is located at 1101 East 33rd St. Visitor parking is available, and the JHU shuttle stops there. The OHS office will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and can be reached by phone at 443-997-1700.

"We are looking forward to having a comfortable space that is easy for visitors to access and can accommodate all of our programs to increase health and safety awareness among our employees," says Frances Humphrey-Carothers, associate director of Occupational Health Services.

OHS offers a number of resources that help employees stay healthy, including the annual flu vaccination clinics held throughout the institution. The office also oversees programs that support a work environment that is free of recognized health, safety, and environmental risks and that complies with state and federal regulations. These include blood pressure and other health screenings, surveillance of potential health hazards per federal and state regulations, and referrals to physicians and specialty clinics.

More information is on the OHS website.
