Nearly 250 faculty and staff and their families and friends attended Hopkins Night at Camden Yards on July 14, when the Baltimore Orioles faced the world champion Chicago Cubs.
Allison Avolio, director of Residential Life at Homewood, said, "I love coming out to Hopkins Night because it's another fun way to support the community I live in."
By the top of the third inning, the Cubs were ahead 8-0. The O's rallied one run at a time, and a homer by Mark Trumbo in the bottom of the eighth tied the game 8-8. The O's fought in the ninth inning to tie the game at 9-9 but were not victorious.
Despite the loss, Tyreesia Johns, who works in mail services in the School of Nursing, commented, "I appreciate that Hopkins Night gives me an opportunity to make new memories with my children."
