Heads up to the golfers at Johns Hopkins: If you want to try a variety of local greens this summer, you have an option to save up to $30 each time.
It's one of several sports and fitness discounts available to you through JHU's Office of Work, Life and Engagement, along with Orioles deals and gym memberships at Y of Central Maryland sites and campus fitness centers.
For golfing, you can buy a passbook via Tee Time Golf (saving $5 on that using the code "2017JHU") to score deals on greens fees throughout Maryland, at courses such as the Blue Mash, the Wetlands, and Oak Creek. If you're up for a trip, the savings spread across the Mid-Atlantic, at more than 500 golf courses from New Jersey down to South Carolina.
According to Tee Time, the pass pays for itself after two or three uses, and it saves frequent golfers hundreds of dollars each season.
For the O's fans: You can save $2 to $7 off each ticket in your choice of seats in Camden Yards in the lower box, left field lower box, or upper reserve sections. Just follow instructions on this discount flier.
Meanwhile, for keeping yourself healthy, active, and swimsuit-ready, look into a gym membership near your workplace or home.
Johns Hopkins employees can join any Y of Central Maryland—there are locations in Waverly, Towson, Catonsville, Parkville, Ellicott City, and Arnold, among other spots—for reduced costs as low as $47 per month, or $71 for a family. Another big perk: You can waive the initiation fee, saving $99.
In the summer, a Y membership means reduced fees for kids camps and programs. The pass, which is good for any Y in the area, also includes free aerobic classes, use of pools and basketball courts, and free child care while you work out.
For those who want to fit in fitness right near work, check out a Johns Hopkins gym: At Homewood, that's the Ralph S. O Connor Recreation Center; in East Baltimore, it's the Denton A. Cooley Center. Both places offer a range of membership options for employees, and you can even set up automatic deductions to your paycheck. Mount Washington employees can join the on-site fitness center for $39 a month.
