Who said we should celebrate moms only one day a year?
The work of Johns Hopkins affiliate Jhpiego—an international nonprofit health organization that works to prevent the needless deaths of women and their families in the world's poorest places—is being celebrated the entire month of May by its neighbors in Fell's Point, where it's headquartered.
Each Wednesday in May, from 5 to 8 p.m., a local restaurant will be raising funds for Jhpiego with a special event that will benefit mothers and babies worldwide. Here's where to lend your support:
• May 3: Mojitos for Moms, Points South Latin Kitchen, 1640 Thames St.
• May 10: Burgers for Babies, Abbey Burger Bistro, 811 S. Broadway
• May 17: Margarita Mama, Papi's Tacos, 1703 Aliceanna St.
• May 24: Tiny Tots & Mama Malbec, Bond Street Social, 901 S. Bond St.
In addition, on Tuesday, May 23, Modern Cook Shop, 901 S. Wolfe St., will join in with Moms All Day, selling morning coffee, lunch, happy hour specials, dinner, and goods from the market to benefit Jhpiego.
