LNYW workshop: Purchasing a New Construction Home

If you're thinking about buying a new construction home, help is at hand.

In an upcoming lunchtime workshop offered by WorkLife Programs, Katie Schroeder, Johns Hopkins' Live Near Your Work program coordinator, will discuss the steps employees need to take to use a LNYW grant to help purchase a new or existing home in Baltimore City. Ryan Homes will explain what to expect when buying a new construction home, including the advantages of buying new construction versus existing properties, a typical timeline for this type of purchase, and selecting options in addition to already included home amenities. In addition, the real estate professionals involved in new construction purchases—the developer, builder, lender, title company, and others—will be reviewed. Ryan Homes also will provide a sneak peek at its new development in Eager Park in East Baltimore.

The LNYW: Purchasing a New Construction Home workshop will be offered twice, from noon to 1 p.m. on both days: on Tuesday, May 17, on the East Baltimore campus and on Thursday, May 19, on the Homewood campus.

The Johns Hopkins Shuttle makes frequent runs between campuses. For information on its schedule, go to the shuttle's website.
