Commencement's move this year from Homewood Field to downtown's Royal Farms Arena has left some university employees questioning whether the day, May 18, is still considered a holiday for those who work on the Homewood campus.
The answer, in a word, is yes.
Even though the universitywide ceremony will not take place at Homewood, the campus is needed for related activities, including departmental events and, most important, transportation needs.
Because public parking is limited near the arena, JHU will be offering free parking in Homewood's South Garage and operating shuttle service from Mason Hall to the arena, where the ceremony begins at 4 p.m. (Shuttles are scheduled to depart from Mason Hall every 10 minutes from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with return service from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.)
Details about Commencement 2016 are available on the event's website.
