New compliance hotline for addressing suspected unethical behavior

Faculty, staff, and students who suspect unethical behavior by someone in the Johns Hopkins community can make a report to a new 24-hour/seven-day-a-week compliance hotline online or by phone at 844-SPEAK2US (844-773-2528). The new hotline replaces the previous We Comply Hotline.

In an announcement to the university and health system, leaders said that excellence and integrity are central to the institutions' educational, research, and patient care missions, and that "each of us plays a role in upholding these values."

Individuals are asked to support a culture of ethical behavior and make a report if they suspect any of the following:

  • Noncompliance with laws and regulations
  • Fraud, waste, or other abuse
  • Workplace violence
  • Faculty, student, or staff misconduct
  • Policy violations
  • Criminal behavior
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Any other ethical or legal concerns

Reports of any type can be made through this central point of contact, and they will be directed to the appropriate JHU or JHHS representative for follow-up. Reports may be made anonymously, and staff will do all they can to keep any reports confidential and to ensure that the concerns are treated seriously and discreetly.

The hotline may be used by all faculty, staff, and students of Johns Hopkins University. It is also open to directors, officers, hospital staff, trainees, and associated or affiliated contract workers throughout Johns Hopkins Medicine, including its six hospitals and Johns Hopkins Community Physicians.
