The School of Advanced International Studies has welcomed eight new faculty members, who are now at work in Europe and China as well as Washington.
Ling Chen is an assistant professor of international political economy whose research focuses on comparative politics and the political economy of China and East Asia. She earned her PhD in political science from Johns Hopkins.
Andrew Cheon is an assistant professor of international political economy whose research interests include international political economy, international security, and the political economy of energy and the environment. He earned a PhD in political science from Columbia University.
Raffaella Del Sarto joined SAIS Europe as associate professor of Middle East studies and professor at the Robert Schuman Centre of the European University Institute. The author of several books on Israeli-Palestinian border issues, she earned a PhD from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Jessica Fanzo is the Bloomberg Distinguished Associate Professor of Ethics and Global Food and Agriculture, a joint appointment at SAIS and the Berman Institute of Bioethics. Her research focuses on the intersection of food, agriculture, health, ethics, and policy. Fanzo earned a PhD in interdisciplinary nutritional sciences from the University of Arizona.
Daniel Honig is an assistant professor of international development whose research focuses on the relationship between organizational structure, management practice, and performance. He received a PhD in public policy from the Kennedy School at Harvard University.
Joe Renouard is resident professor of American history at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center in China. He specializes in American diplomacy, American history, human rights and humanitarianism, and trans-Atlantic relations. Renouard received his PhD in history from Emory University.
David A. Steinberg is an assistant professor of international political economy who specializes in the politics of international money and finance. He earned a PhD from Northwestern University.
Pavithra Suryanarayan is an assistant professor of international political economy. She is completing her dissertation at Columbia University, where she does research on comparative politics of developing countries, with a focus on India.
