Farm-fresh food arrives for pickup in East Baltimore

A new farm-to-you option is now available on the East Baltimore campus.

After a successful test-marketing period, a company that brings farm-fresh food to the city has made East Baltimore one of its permanent weekly pickup spots. The location is Atwater's–East Baltimore, 1903 Ashland Ave., and the times are 4 to 6 p.m. every Thursday.

Friends & Farms collects and packages food from local farms and then brings it to customers in the form of food baskets that are ready to pick up and take home. They come in different sizes and prices and serve from one to four people.

Recent food selections included brisket, cod, linguine, milk from grass-fed cows, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, asparagus, collard greens, apples, pork ribs, ground turkey, bacon, eggs, hydroponic lettuce, tomato clusters, kale, peanuts, and cucumbers.

Weekly prices range from $41 to $103.

Customers can place an order or get more information by going to the company's website or calling 240-842-9121.
