Test pit work near Freshman Quad and Homewood Museum Vault

From Monday, Sept. 8, through Thursday, Sept. 11, crews will perform hydro-vac excavation in two locations to gather information about underground utilities for future construction.

  • Freshman Quad: One test pit (approximately 2 feet by 15 feet) will be excavated near the center of the quad, next to the chain-link fencing around the Steamline project.

  • Homewood Museum Vault: One smaller test pit (approximately 2 feet by 2 feet) will be excavated adjacent to the Homewood Museum vault.

Where possible, excavated areas will be backfilled the same day. If additional time is needed (up to 1–2 days), the areas will remain safely covered with plywood and secured with caution tape and cones.

Work hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Trucks and equipment will not block student pathways.

We appreciate your patience as we complete this important preparatory work.
