AI in Practice webinar series: Fostering Critical Thinking in an AI Era: Supporting the K-12 to College Transition

The AI in Practice webinar series, a collaboration between the University of Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, continues this spring semester! Discover how generative AI is transforming higher education and workforce preparation in this engaging three-part series. Each session explores innovative ways to enhance teaching and learning, equips students with essential AI skills, and provides opportunities for interactive discussions with leading AI experts.

This webinar examines how artificial intelligence affects critical thinking development during the transition from K-12 to college environments. Drawing on Spatola's research about efficiency-accountability relationships in AI use, it explores how students develop cognitive patterns through AI tool integration. The presentation considers what critical thinking looks like in an AI-enhanced educational environment and discusses approaches for supporting student cognitive development across educational levels.
