Female volunteers age 13-70 who have anorexia nervosa and recently lost weight are needed for research participation at JHMI East Baltimore campus.
Participants will be compensated $200 for three in-person visits: Visit (1) 0.5 hour eligibility screen that includes drinking an Ensure, Visit (2) 3.5 hour session that includes blood draws and computer tasks, and Visit (3) 0.5 hour MRI scan (~5 hours total).
This research study is looking at how the gastrointestinal response to food (Ensure) contributes to the maintenance of restrictive eating disorders. At all three visits, participants will be asked to consume an Ensure. An IV will be used to collect blood samples at multiple time points over the course of three hours (Visit 2). In between the blood collection intervals, participants will be given questionnaires to answer. A couple of weeks following the draw, an MRI scan will be conducted (Visit 3).
