IDIES funding opportunities: Deadlines extended

The Institute for Data-Intensive Engineering and Science, or IDIES, is extending the deadlines for both its 2024 Seed Funding initiative and 2024 Summer Student Fellowship (SSF) program.

The goal of the IDIES Seed Funding initiative is to provide seed funding for data-intensive computing projects that (a) will involve areas relevant to IDIES and JHU institutional research priorities; (b) are multidisciplinary; and (c) build ideas and teams with good prospects for successful proposals to attract external research support by leveraging IDIES intellectual and physical infrastructure. Preference is for early-career faculty and projects that are interdisciplinary and stretch across the university.

Recipients of the IDIES seed award will receive a $25,000 grant toward one year of pilot research.

The SSF program offers awards of $6,000 to support 10-week summer research projects—each including a data science–driven component—led by undergraduate students with the guidance of an IDIES faculty member mentor.

New deadline: Proposals are due by 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 29
