This study is looking at the risks of developing cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes based on differences in ancestry. Researchers are recruiting individuals between the ages of 12 and 21 from African American and white groups. Participants will receive compensation (up to $475) and a copy of their lab results.
For the group of African American individuals, researchers are recruiting those who identify as African American, with three out of four grandparents born in the United States.
For the group of white individuals, researchers are recruiting those who identify as white, with three out of four grandparents born in the United States who are of European, Middle Eastern, or North African descent.
