Community food scrap drop-off program

In partnership with the Baltimore City Department of Public Works, the Office of Sustainability welcomes JHU affiliates and nonaffiliates to bring their food scraps from home to campus to be composted beginning next week. The collection site for Homewood will be located behind Mudd Hall and will run every Tuesday from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. The collection site for East Baltimore will be located in front of CRB I and will run every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Acceptable items for compost include fruits and vegetables, egg shells, tea bags and coffee grinds, breads and grains, and pasta. For more information, visit the Office of Sustainability Instagram.

This program is an expansion of the Baltimore City DPW Residential Food Scrap Drop-Off Program and is made possible by a USDA grant. Additional higher education sites are being added at the University of Maryland Baltimore and Loyola University.
