Call for proposals: 2023 Diversity and Inclusion Conference

The Johns Hopkins Diversity Leadership Council invites you to submit a  proposal  to present at the 20th annual Diversity and Inclusion Conference, which the council is hosting. The conference will be held on Oct. 20 and will feature in-person and virtual options for engagement. Participants will join leaders, faculty, students, community neighbors, alumni, and staff in examining critical questions related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

The conference theme—Rooted: Remaining Grounded in a Changing Environment—encourages us to explore what it means to pursue DEI-related work in an ever-evolving world. The council seeks proposals from internal and external expert scholars, practitioners, and community members on topics that emphasize strategies and innovative approaches to sustain and advance DEI work in adverse or uncertain circumstances. Possible session topics could include implementing systems-based change, responding to emerging trends, cultivating community, and devising strategies to become an ally.

This year we are planning on a return to an in-person conference with some options for virtual engagement.

Sessions are scheduled for 70 minutes. They should be research- and practice-based, interactive, and suitable for participants with a range of DEI knowledge and experience.

Presenters should ensure that their presentations are accessible and inclusive by invoking principles of universal design for learning and other accessibility strategies.

Please submit proposals via the online submission portal. The deadline for  proposal  submission is June 30. If you have questions, email ODI@jhu.edu.
