The Johns Hopkins Diversity Leadership Council (DLC), established in 1997, is a group that advises the president and senior leadership on diversity and inclusion issues across the enterprise in the following ways:
- Recommends and promotes policies and programs, and discovers or originates other initiatives that will attract and retain a diverse mix of faculty, staff, and students
- Examines formal and informal structures and processes that inhibit JH from being more inclusive and recommends changes that foster greater inclusion
- Promotes diversity awareness education across JH
- Organizes signature programs such as the Diversity Leadership Conference, Diversity Innovation Grant Program, and the Annual Diversity Awards
- Fosters partnerships with Baltimore, Washington, and Howard County community leaders to encourage greater community involvement by various divisions of Johns Hopkins institutions
- The membership nomination window is open, and we are seeking faculty, staff, and students to serve as new members on the DLC.
Members are expected to:
- Serve for one-year (students) or three-year (faculty and staff) terms
- Attend 75% of monthly two-hour DLC meetings and events
- Join and actively participate on workgroups and subcommittees
