First-Year Seminars: Faculty Reflections and Emerging Best Practices

The Center for Teaching Excellence and Innovation, or CTEI, presents the first Faculty Lunch & Learn of spring '23 from noon to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15. The topic will be First-Year Seminars: Faculty Reflections and Emerging Best Practices. First-Year Seminars Director Aliza Watters will moderate a panel that includes Chris Celenza, dean of the Krieger School; Lilliana Mason, associate professor of political science; Marisa O'Connor, associate teaching professor; and Bill Egginton, Decker Professor of the Humanities.

Fully launched for all first-years in the Krieger School in the fall of 2022, the First-Year Seminars prompt students to "discuss big ideas, explore new concepts, and develop novel solutions to the world's most pressing problems." All four faculty will talk about their experiences leading these wide-ranging discussions.

Pre-register via Eventbrite for the workshop, which will be held in person, in the Garrett Room of the MSE Library (the offices of the CTEI) and on Zoom. Lunch will be served for all in-person attendees!
