Hopkins' first-ever South Asian mela: Help needed

South Asian Students at Hopkins (SASH), Pakistani Students Association (PSA), and Bangladeshi American Students Association (BASA) are planning Hopkins' first-ever South Asian cultural fair (mela) on Saturday, March 11, from noon to 4 p.m. at Keyser Quad. At the mela, several booths will represent different South Asian cultures, traditions, foods, and activities.

As we strive to represent as many cultures and traditions as possible within South Asia, we would like to give the opportunity to students not already represented by these three organizations to run booths at the mela.

Currently, we have opportunities for

  1. Nepalese, Sri Lankan, Afghan, Bhutanese, and Maldivian students to help put together and run booths to represent each of these countries' cultures and traditions.
  2. South Asian creatives to showcase their South Asian–inspired artwork, music, hand-made jewelry, prints, etc., or creatives with booth ideas to host/assist at the mela.

Please complete the interest form to participate in planning.
