The Johns Hopkins University United Way campaign ends Friday, Dec. 16. This annual drive, part of a long-standing partnership with the United Way of Central Maryland, raises donations for nonprofit organizations working to improve the well-being of JHU's neighbors, with a focus on supporting three important areas: financial stability, education, and health.
This year's campaign co-chairs are Alicia Wilson, vice president for economic development, and Alex Triantis, dean of Carey Business School. Once again, faculty and staff have the opportunity to set up automated payroll contributions, for any amount that they wish, during benefits open enrollment. Each year, the United Way campaign allows supporters to designate their pledges in a way that is most meaningful to them. Employees willing to donate $100 or more have the option to direct their United Way contribution to the Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund, which supports local nonprofits serving the communities adjacent to Hopkins campuses. The goal this year is to raise $550,000. The Johns Hopkins Office of Economic Development and Community Partnerships, along with many other community impact leaders across the university, is planning various events to ensure the goal is met.
