Members of the Johns Hopkins Ready Set Design! program are hosting a free in-person event for middle school girls from 10 a.m to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12.
Ready Set Design! is a free program targeted toward middle school girls, grades six to eight. Our goal as women in STEM is to encourage more young women to explore opportunities in engineering and design, especially at an age where they might become discouraged in math and science.
We will be having an in-person event this semester on the Johns Hopkins campus, with the mission of supporting and encouraging young women in STEM in Baltimore City. During this event, the girls will work in small teams to design and build their own roller coaster using materials we provide. Our Johns Hopkins engineering students will be there with them, working as mentors to inspire, encourage, and guide the girls in their hands-on projects.
If you would like more information about our organization and past projects we've done, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at readysetdesign@gmail.com.
