We're excited to announce the new Hopkins Dining program coming to Johns Hopkins University this fall! Hopkins Dining was created in response to the university's decision to transition to a self-operated dining model, providing the institution with more freedom in developing a program that is focused on enhancing the student experience and implementing more sustainable food practices. Leaders of the new program will also seek to cultivate meaningful relationships with students, faculty, and staff to create a dining experience that's especially tailored to their wants and needs. Though several changes are underway, many of the current dining staff that you've come to know and love will be joining the Hopkins Dining family. As we prepare for the official launch of Hopkins Dining this fall, here are a few things that you can look forward to with the new program:
A Fresh Look
When students arrive to campus this fall, they will notice an updated appearance in our dining locations. Our facilities will undergo a much-needed facelift this summer to provide a fresh look and customer-friendly experience when visiting each location. In addition to updated facilities, keep an eye out for new employee uniforms, signs, and branding to enhance your dining experience.
A Student-Centered Experience
We understand that food plays an integral role in the well-being and success of our students. Because of this, our goal is to provide students with a well-rounded dining experience that's focused on nutrition, community, enrichment, and fun! Students can expect to see a wide array of dining events including food holidays, cultural events, and sustainable initiatives.
Sustainability & Local Partnerships
In alignment with the university's commitment to sustainability, Hopkins Dining plans to continue existing sustainable practices while also fostering new opportunities to enhance the program. Beyond our day-to-day practices, we've made sure that our local partners also align with our intentional mission of a sustainable, authentic, and inclusive new program. Through our supply chain partnerships, for example, we've selected Gold Crust Bakery which uses all solar energy to power their facility. We're thrilled to also welcome new supply partners including Gluten-Free Bakery Girl, Chesapeake Bay Roasting Company, and more!
A Team of Experts
In recent months, we've been working to develop a robust group of experts who are dedicated to providing you with a quality dining experience. Our team is working diligently to ensure a seamless dining operation when you return next fall. Julie Allbrooks, senior administrative coordinator, says, "It's the people in the Dining Program and JHU at large that make me love working here. The high level of creativity, talent, and personal drive for excellence is a common thread running through nearly everyone I have worked with while at JHU. I am excited to provide support to Dining Programs staff as they roll out new innovations and transformations to the Dining Program for the entire JHU community."
