NCI GMaP Region 1 North Travel Scholarship

The NCI GMaP Region 1 North Travel Scholarship Program is designed to provide up to $1,000 of support to early career scholars' participation in professional conferences, meetings, or trainings supporting cancer research. Scholarships can cover costs for registration fees, domestic travel (round-trip economy airfare or mileage reimbursement), per diem, ground transportation, and/or hotel/ lodging.

Eligible participants must:

Be a member of an institution in GMaP Region 1 North and be an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD candidate, and/or meet the definition of a New Investigator/Early Stage Investigator who is underrepresented in the biomedical sciences according to NIH guidelines for underrepresented populations or a researcher who conducts cancer disparities research. New Investigators who have not previously competed successfully for a substantial NIH independent research award (e.g., R01), as a Principal Investigator/Program Director but may have obtained small research grants (e.g., R03) or other NIH training-related awards are eligible. Early Stage Investigators are New Investigators who also are within 10 years of completing a terminal research degree/medical residency or equivalent. See NIH guidelines for more details.

Applicants must have an accepted abstract for presentation (poster or oral), or pre-identified workshops/trainings/educational sessions that will aid in their career and professional development.
