Applications are due Jan. 16 for PhD students to nominate themselves for consideration for the Bouchet Graduate Honor Society! This society, started 15 years ago by Yale and Howard universities, is named after the first African American individual to receive a PhD in the United States. It honors PhD students who exhibit the five Bouchet qualities of scholarship, leadership, character, service, and advocacy for students who traditionally have been underrepresented in higher education.
JHU inducted its first class of five students in 2019, and we are now accepting applications for our fourth cohort for 2022.
PhD students must self-nominate (but need two letters of reference); five students will be selected. The deadline for students to submit their self-nomination materials is Jan. 16.
More information is on the Bouchet Graduate Honor Society webpage on the Office of the Provost website.
