Two special virtual events will mark the milestone 40-year anniversary of the Johns Hopkins Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Celebration.
At noon on Jan. 11, Isabel Wilkerson, winner of the Pulitzer Prize and the National Humanities Medal, and author of the critically acclaimed New York Times bestsellers The Warmth of Other Suns and Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents, will present the keynote speech. She will then join Sherita Golden, vice president and chief diversity officer of Johns Hopkins Medicine, for a fireside chat about Caste.
At noon on Jan. 14, the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Awards ceremony will recognize members of the Johns Hopkins community for their volunteer work, and video performances from the Unified Voices choir will be featured.
