Tree removal planned for Homewood campus construction projects

Tree activity and related detours will take place over the next two weeks at the SNF Agora building, Hopkins Student Center project sites

Over the next two weeks, the university will be performing tree removal and tree trimming to prepare for construction of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Agora Institute building and the Hopkins Student Center on the Homewood campus.

For the SNF Agora Institute building, trees will be removed from the project site north of the Wyman Park building. Tree removal activities will occasionally require the closure of pedestrian pathways, and flaggers will provide detour routes for safety.

Hopkins Student Center activity will include removing trees within the construction fencing, north of the Mattin Center, as well as along North Charles Street and west of the Mattin Center. Construction vehicles will occasionally access the Student Center site from the campus entrance at the Beach. Protection will be in place for the remaining trees, vegetation, and surfaces outside the construction fencing, and flaggers will be provided as needed for pedestrian and vehicular detours and safety.

Additionally, the university has accounted for the removal of trees in the reforestation plan for both projects.
